Is it really free? Yes for university & government scientists, and every plan includes a free trial. See Pricing & real costs.

Where is my data stored? On our shared infrastructure during the trial, then on your own database + storage, or our managed cluster. See Data integrity & liability.

How do I set up my database and file storage? Step-by-step here: Set up your database & storage.

Can I use my own AI model? Yes — any workspace brings its own Claude or OpenAI key in Admin → AI (you pay your provider directly). Prefer not to manage keys? Turn on Managed AI and we run them for you, billed monthly.

How do I turn on AI chat & (semantic) search? Either bring your own key in Admin → AI, or enable the Managed AI add-on (we provide the keys and bill your usage). Keyword search is always free without any key. Full guide: AI search & your indexing key.

How do I get a support@ address / custom domain? Company workspaces can use a nexteln.com subdomain (default) or connect their own domain in Settings → Domain.

How do I export everything? Admin → Archive → Export my data now.
