NextELN is a product of Excellgen, Inc., which built and ran its own electronic lab notebook in 2008 and rebuilt it on each new generation of web technology ever since. NextELN is everything we learned in nearly twenty years of real lab use, now rebuilt AI-native on modern infrastructure.
That's the whole idea behind the name: deep, hard-won experience + next-generation technology. We've lived the day-to-day reality of scientists using a notebook for years — so the features that matter are built in, and the busywork is designed out.

Upload an Excel/CSV and get a real, typed database automatically; upload an old Word/Markdown protocol or manuscript and get a clean, editable page — not a dead attachment. Migrate a full notebook export from another system and we recreate your pages, tables, and inventory.
- Turn data into a knowledge base. Your notebooks, spreadsheets, and results become structured, searchable, AI-ready knowledge the moment they land — not something you retrofit years later.
- AI-native. Semantic search, ask-your-data, and a lab assistant are built in — on your own API key (you pay your provider directly) or our optional Managed AI. No lock-in to one model.
